There’s no place like home; except maybe a warm July evening on the lawn of a local community park watching a family classic and supporting a local charity, all at the same time. Southern Illinois SCARE Association is proud to announce their launch of the first-ever Movies in the Park event at Frankfort Community Park in West Frankfort on July 19, 2009 at dusk. Wizards of Oz will be shown outdoors at the historic bandshell but this won’t be an ordinary event. Sponsored by Black Diamond Harley Davidson in Marion, the event is a Ride-In Movie as well as a regular outdoor showing. Aiming to support motorcycle safety and community awareness, Black Diamond is asking anyone with a bike to bring it out for the outdoor showing. Those sporting four rather than two wheels on their ride are also welcome! Patrons are urged to bring a lawn chair or blanket for comfortable seating during the free, family-oriented show. Several movie favorites, including the Kansas girl herself, Dorothy, will be on hand for photographs and meet and greets with kids and kids at heart.
